CPS members embarked upon day-long visit to the Small Breeds Farm at Kington in Herefordshire on August 8th.
Seven members made the trip – Nigel Goode, Kevin Morgan, Lynn Brown, Bea von der Haar, Sue Anslow, Graham Porritt and Kevin Doyle. As this was a pre-booked organised event the group were given privileged access to many of the animals and birds not generally available to the public at large.
This enabled members to take images inside a number of the compounds. Highlights included the Red Squirrel, the exotic Finches, Golden Pheasant, Peacock/Peahen and Lady Amherst’s Pheasant. A particular favourite for all the group was a private session photographing the White Faced Scops Owl in the company of its handler.
We were able to stroll around the site taking pictures of all the birds/animals and once the general public had departed we were given the opportunity to photograph the various breeds of goat, sheep, alpacas and ponies as they were returned to the open paddocks.
The farm staff were excellent offering day-long assistance and support for our group topped off with an excellent meal in the farm cafe. It was a great day out, a day we all very much enjoyed, and one we would recommend to others.
