The CPS Photographer of the Year (POTY) title is awarded to the member who has amassed the greatest number of points in all internal print and digital monthly competitions throughout the year (January to October).
Two additional awards are provided, CPS Digital POTY and CPS Print POTY, for those individuals with the highest total score amassed in those categories via the monthly competitions. There are also two end-of-year stand-alone competitions for Print of The Year and PDI of The Year. Finally we hold two panel competitions, the Diamond Jubilee Cup and the Wilf Hathaway Trophy, the first themed and the other open.
The scoring rules for the monthly competitions are as follows:
- 1st Place – 10 points
- 2nd Place – 7 points
- 3rd Place – 5 points
- Highly Commended – 4 points
- Commended – 3 points
- 1 point is awarded per entry for those images not receiving any of the above accolades
