Cwmbran Photographic Society celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2015 having been founded in 1955 as Cwmbran Camera Club by the late Wilf Hathaway.
We meet every Wednesday 7.30pm to 9.30pm January to December, Christmas and New Year excepted.
The Society enjoys the benefits of being affiliated to the PAGB (Photographic Alliance of Great Britain) as a member of the WPF (Welsh Photographic Federation). We offer a warm welcome to all new members, be they experienced photographers or those just commencing their photographic journey. Although most members work with digital imagery there are still some who also work with film.
The aim of the Society is to further the enjoyment of photography, in all its aspects, in an informal and friendly atmosphere, by providing as varied and interesting a programme as possible. To this end we hold monthly competitions for print and digital images which are judged by in-house and external judges. Points are awarded for successful submissions counting towards the Photographer Of The Year Trophy. At least once a month we undertake photographic field trips across South Wales and beyond known as our ‘Fotoforays’. We also undertake an annual Fotoforay each summer where we organise an extended field trip (usually 4 nights/5 days) to another part of the UK.
We take part in friendly inter-club “battles” giving members the opportunity to pit their work against other clubs in South East Wales and sometimes further afield.
We hope that the images and information on the site will encourage you to come along and share our passion for photography. Some key contacts and other details of the organisation can be found using the menu tabs above.
