A visit to Porthkerry Park on November 11th to walk the coast path to Rhoose Point.
This was a walk undertaken by my wife and myself (Jayne and Kevin Doyle) as one of the remaining stretches of the South Wales coast path we hadn’t covered along this part of the coast. The weather started off fairly gloomy and the ticket machine in Porthkerry car park failed to spit out a ticket despite taking our cash!
The walk starts along a boardwalk through some boggy ground before rising steeply through woodland to the cliff top. From here the walk is straightforward along the coast path to Rhoose Point where we stopped to eat our packed lunch. During the walk back to Porthkerry the weather brightened considerably highlighting the fine autumnal colours in the surrounding woodland.
This is not a long walk (just under 5 miles in total) and apart from the steep rise at the outset is accessible for most walkers.
