COMPETITION RULES

1. A maximum of four entries are permitted per member in all competitions except The Wilf Hathaway Trophy. Unless otherwise stated they can be colour,  monochrome or a mixture of both and must not have been submitted to any club competition prior to the current year.

2. Entries to be submitted to the Competition Secretary two weeks before the competition date unless requested earlier by the judge. Digital images can be emailed or submitted on either a cd/dvd disc or  memory stick, both of which are to be clearly labelled with the member’s number. Late entries will not be accepted. (see below for extra digital imaging rules).

3. All prints to be adequately mounted to a maximum size of 500mm x 400mm and be complete with a backing board. If fixing tape is used, it must be of an appropriate type.

4. The club will provide labels for  prints which must be clearly completed with the Title, Member’s number and Month/Year  and name of the competition. These are then to be attached  to the rear of the mount and positioned top/centre.

5. Minimum print size to be 175mm x 125mm.  Home or commercially processed prints are permitted in all competitions.

6. Digital Image files must be in JPG format with a .jpg file extension. Files must be no larger than 1400 x 1050 pixels (wxh) and have a resolution no higher than 300dpi. Entries should be placed in a folder named with the member’s number only. Each file to be labelled with a 2 digit sequence number followed by the image title, e.g. “02 Rainy Day”. It is important to leave a space between the number and the title, otherwise it will be rejected by the competition software.

7. All slides to be correctly “spotted” (lower left corner as viewed) and  labelled with Title, Date and Member’s number.

8. The three highest scoring monthly competition entries (all formats) from each member will count towards the Photographer of the Year Trophy. Bonus points to be awarded to entries placed first, second and third. If In-house judges are used they will receive the average points of the top three entries per member.

9. Entry for The Wilf Hathaway Trophy will consist of one panel of five prints. Prints can be of any subject, colour or monochrome (or a mixture of both) but should demonstrate a range of photographic skills/techniques. Maximum print size to be 300mm x 254mm, maximum mount size to be 400mm x 300mm.

10. Prints entered as part of a Wilf Hathaway Trophy panel are not permitted in this competition again.

11. Prints or digital images can be entered into a maximum of three competitions. These are as follows:

One monthly themed or open competition

Print of the Year or Slide of the Year

As part of The Wilf Hathaway Trophy (prints)

12. Images entered in digital image competitions cannot be entered in any print competitions and vice versa. This will be monitored by the competition secretary.

Any competition entries that do not comply with the above rules will be disqualified at the discretion of the Competition Secretary.
