Dec 232014

Another year in the life of Cwmbran Photographic Society is almost ended. Attendances have generally been stable but a few members seem to have drifted off. However, we finished the year with some excellent entry numbers for our end of year competitions, particularly the Wilf Hathaway Trophy, which reached double figures for the first time in my association with the club……..and that’s 25 years! Well done to all the winners and those that were placed. Also to everyone who entered these and all the monthly competitions. Monthlies are the lifeblood of most clubs and hopefully entry numbers will remain high in 2015.

Our involvement in external competitions was a bit patchy although we did well in the final one, the Stanley Chell Trophy, a few weeks back. Our fourth place has followed a first and second placement during the last half a dozen years or so.

Our website continues to look really good and that is down to the efforts of Stuart although I am sure that he could do with some new images for the galleries if you want to send some to him. Our Facebook page now has over one hundred members and it has been one of the best things to have come out of the past few years mainly due to Rachel’s efforts (thanks!). It is now in good hands with Stuart H and Paul H.

So as we bid farewell to 2014 and look forward to 2015 I am confident that there is a good future for the club although we may well have to look for new premises in the not-too-distant future! Of course, 2015 is our Diamond Anniversary (one year younger than me, LOL!) so we had better start getting things organised in the New Year.

It just remains for me to wish you all, whether current members, ex-members, or just browsers, a very Happy Christmas and prosperous New Year.

Dave
