Cwmbran Photographic Society celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2015, having been founded way back in 1955.
It was known as the Cwmbran Camera Club when originally formed by the late Wilf Hathaway. It now meets under its revised name at Cwmbran Community Centre, Ventnor Road, Old Cwmbran(Find out how to find us here)
We meet every wednesday 7.30pm to 9.30pm September to July, Christmas and New Year excepted.
The Society enjoys the benefits of being affiliated to the PAGB (Photographic Alliance of Great Britain) as a member of the WPF (Welsh Photographic Federation). We offer a warm welcome to all new members, be they experienced or just starting out in photography. Although most members are working with digital, there are still a number who also work with film.
The aim of the Society is to further the enjoyment of photography, in all its aspects, in an informal and friendly atmosphere, by providing as varied and interesting a programme as possible. To this end we hold monthly competitions for prints, digital images and slides, which are judged by inhouse and external judges, points being awarded towards the Photographer of the Year trophy.
We also take part in friendly inter-club “battles” to give members the chance to submit their best work against other clubs in South East Wales and sometimes further afield.
We have plenty of free parking and the venue is wheelchair accessible.
We hope that the pictures and information on the site will encourage you to come along and share our passion of photography. Some key contacts and other details of the organisation can be found here.
